Connecting the EcoFlow to NUT.

Today 18th Oct 2026, I finally managed to connect my EcoFlow River 3 Plus to my homelab.

The EcoFlow River is a LiFePO4 286Wh portable battery with <10ms switchover. Be careful, EcoFlows are not UPS, they will let pass low voltagess and surge into your expensive equipment. Apart from the power conditioning issues, EcoFlow River 3 couldn't be used as a UPS because it lacked proper NUT integration.

I have been tracking this issue for a while. Today I noticed Network UPS Tools (NUT) merged the drivers into the master branch. So I jumped to integrate this into my homelab.

In a few hours,

• I learnt how NUT worked,
• wrote a docker template for my homelab,
• deployed and tested the solution,
• integrated all my servers, specially our Synology NAS,
• and added Home Assistant integration and wrote an automation to check power outages.
